Mothice grinned, containing a laugh, as Marshpaw furiously beat at her legs.
"Relax, it's only me," she meowed. With a playful cuff to her apprentice's ear, she got off her and calmly sat down, licking away the mats in her chest fur. "But if it had been an enemy, you wouldn't have stood a chance. I hope you know that I don't intend to go easy on you when it comes to fighting, as it's one of the most important things in your warrior training." She rose to her paws, beginning to circle Marshpaw. "You need to be more aware of your surroundings. You're unable to do that when your mind is clouded with petty personal feelings." Mothice gave her a knowing look, smirking.
She shot a paw out at Marshpaw's legs, attempting to trip her. "Let's test out your reflexes," she purred.

She snapped at Mothice's paw as she cuffed her ear, infuriated, than leapt away once the cat had gotten off of her, bristling with lips pulled back in a snarl of rage. "Well, good then!" she spat, forcing her fur to lie flat. But she still hissed at the cat, sitting down and licking her fur to get the dirty scent of another cat off of it. She spat, then stood back up and shook her body as if to release herself from water's clinging droplets. But the water was really fear. She closed her eyes, calmed down, but was still angry. But she wasn't scared anymore, atleast. She smirked right back at her. But this time she was ready. She jumped, and batted the cat's leg in an effort to unbalance her by sending more momentum that one way than Mothice had intended. She tensed, crouching slightly.

Though Mothice hadn't been expecting Marshpaw's retaliation, she was able to stay on her paws. Eyes dancing with amusement, she leaped over her apprentice and back again in almost a zigzag pattern. Her intent was to confuse Marshpaw, but she knew her efforts would be pointless against the bright she-cat's wits.
"You know, Marshpaw," she mewed as she moved, "you're sharp for such a young cat. Your mind is already very clever; it just needs to be exercised." She grinned, taking another swipe at Marshpaw's legs. "Try to pin me -- but since I haven't given you any battle tactics, you'll need to think of this one on your own." She was eager to see if her apprentice could manage it.

Marshpaw leapt back from another swipe. Well, she already knew that. The rogues had actually given her some advice and tactics, just to speed her along her way. Maybe they would see her again, they said, and she could join them. "Oh, I already know some. Seeing as I haven't been able to exercise them, though, they may not work for me quite yet..." She leapt forward again, blue eyes watching Mothice's every move, and she herself aimed a paw at her mentor's legs, then leapt into the air, planning on landing heavily on the she-cat's back.

[[I'm so sorry for the wait. >.<]]
Mothice laughed as she just barely avoided a swipe at her legs from Marshpaw. She wasn't hesitant to say that she was enjoying this.
"Watch it!" Mothpaw cried, falling painfully onto her side.
Rosepaw collapsed in a fit of laughter, her light ginger fur caked with dirt. "Well, it's not my fault you have lazy reflexes. Pay attention the next time I try to trip you!"
Grumbling, Mothpaw got to her paws and shook herself. "There's going to be a next time?"
Rosepaw was silent for a moment, then kicked out her hind leg and managed to catch Mothpaw in such a way that she fell -- again. "Yup!" she replied, bursting out with more giggling.
As usual, her sister's happiness grew on her, and before long, Mothpaw was laughing uncontrollably. Finally able to contain herself, she sighed. "Days like these are my favorite," she purred, squinting into the sun as she lay at Rosepaw's side. "I hope they never end."
The words echoed in her head, even after the memory had faded. Mothice stood frozen, pain creeping its way up her body.
Suddenly, a weight fell on her back, and she hit the ground chin-first. Glancing over her shoulder, she rolled her eyes and smiled at the sight of Marshpaw, having triumphed over her mentor. She shook the young she-cat off her and recomposed herself.
"Nicely done," she praised softly.
"Don't worry. They never will! I promise."
