The Wait :: Open for Rogues/Loners/Clan Cats « Thread Started on Jul 22, 2009, 1:00pm »
The she-cat padded foreward, muscles lax. Her brittle icy eyes glared into the darkness of the cave. The fact that it was past sunset didn't help much in the way of sight either. Not that she really cared. All she was doing was waiting around. For who though......that was a question that she had no name for. Or rather, had no name for [i]who[/u]. If she did, the warrior would have already arranged for a meeting place, rather than just aimlessly pacing about. For the countless time, she lifted her black snout, tongue extended to catch any taste of cat scent. Nothing. Yet. Paintience was the key here. Then once she got a hold of one of the lone felines that walked these parts....she'd have to access the situation should one occur. Otherwise, the black warrior would merely choose her moves carefully. Every moment could bring forth a different set of possible actions for her to take. Needless to say, she'd swiftly mull them over and before you knew it, she'd play the option to it's fullest potential.
The only problem was that a cat hadn't yet shown up for her to play out those options on. Paitience.....

Jay stepped delicately over the jumbled piles of sharp rocks, lifting his paws and setting them down carefully, avoiding each and every one of the rocks. When he reached the edge of the mess, he settle down to give himself a thorough wash, removing all remnants of rabbit-scent from his dark pelt. The skeleton of the rabbit itself was buried a few foxlengths behind the tomcat. He hadn't found any scent-marks, but he could never be too careful in these lands. Another rogue may have claimed it since he had last been there, and he didn't want to take the risk of alerting anyone to his presence.
Finishing his wash, he stood up lazily and continued ambling along, the weak moonlight beaming down on his coffee-coloured pelt. Even though it was almost midnight, the stars weren't up, or were obscured by clouds. Jay tilted his head back and examined the sky curiously. Normally, even on cloud nights, he could see a star or two. But tonight... Tonight there was nothing but the moon, softly lighting the clouds around it and not much else. He lowered his head again. There was nothing to be seen, and so he padded onward.
Reaching a small rock cave, he glanced inside, then dismissed it to continue walking. After a few paces, he stopped again and glanced back inside. Now he could see the movement of the cat, pacing back and forth, eyes glittering. From what he could see and smell, it was a she-cat, and frustrated. He was downwind. Had she noticed him? Taking a few steps forwards into the gaping mouth of the cave, he drawled softly, "Waiting for anyone in particular?"

As she paced through the small cave, she scraped a slim black paw on a sharp stone. The sting of the small cut made her paw throb, each pulse pushing a tiny amount of blood onto the ground. A soft hiss of annoyance fled her dark lips, slipping past gleaming white bared teeth. Sliding to her haunches, the warrior lifted her paw to examine the wound. Hardly the size of a newborn baby mouse's tail; it had already stopped bleeding as well. She heard something scuffle outside of the cave entrance and froze. Her ears swiveled backwards to catch the yet quieter sound of light dainty pawsteps. Silently placing her paw down, she sat on the stone floor and waited for the arrival of the cat. She couldn't smell him at all. The wind must have changed direction since she'd entered the cave.
The hushed steps halted as a tom's voice called out to her. "Waiting for anyone in particular?" Finally. Standing around paid off. Shadewhisper got to her paws and slowly turned to face the male at the mouth of the cave. With the darkness of the night, even she found it difficult to make out the tomcat's pelt color. With a quick two strides she stood just a tail length from his nose.
"I have my preferances, but not really." The black warrior paused, her ice blue eyes glittering. "My name is Shadewhisper, warrior of ShadowClan. Now who might you be?"

The dark she-cat slowly raised herself onto her feet, turning to face him. He did the opposite, sitting down and wrapping his tail neatly around his paws. One ear twisted back as she strode toward him, almost too close for comfort... but not quite. Jay stayed perfectly still, appraising her calmly. Her icy blue gaze was the only colour about her body - her pelt was pure black, melting easily into the shadows. His tail-tip twitched as she mvoed closer, ready to leap away if needed. However, it didn't seem to be. "I have my preferances, but not really. My name is Shadewhisper, warrior of ShadowClan. Now who might you be?"
Jay tilted his head. "You warriors don't come round here very often, if not to hunt. What brings you here?" The evasiveness came naturally to him- years of distrust, of any cat, had sharpened his alertness, and he liked to keep things close to his heart. However, this cat didn't seem too much of a threat - ShadowClan cat's didn't come into contact with him much, and Shadewhisper - clan cats and their names, part of him muttered in his head - wasn't likely to parade the fact she had met up with a rogue. Finally, he replied to her question. "Jay. My name's Jay."
WEATHER:
Cold frosts are setting in, framing the golden yellow leaves with crystalized ice. Piles of fallen leaves and branches hide nuts and therefor prey. Each step taken is amplified with a dozen crunchs. Here and there are a few light snowfalls, not enough to do anything more than dust the ground, but it still causes felines everywhere to shiver. The sun gives off much warmth, the summer still pumping through it's rays, but half the time it is merely a form of light, with little warmth in store. It is still hard to tell how harsh the winter will be.
PREY ABUNDANCE:
medium to low.
BIRTHING SEASON? no ADOPTIONS: Sparrowpaw
